Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s First Lady, has secured the support of the Qatar Foundation in advancing the Federal Government’s renewed effort to reform Almajiri and out-of-school children education. During her meeting with the Foundation’s Chairperson, Sheika Moza Bint Nasser Al-Missned, in Doha, Senator Tinubu presented a new education model that merges Islamic and formal learning with vocational training to equip children with life skills and help them build meaningful futures.

The initiative proposes the establishment of modern Almajiri schools that provide classroom learning, moral instruction, and skill acquisition within a safe and supportive environment. Each school will include a mosque for worship, boarding facilities, and residences for teachers and caregivers. Senator Tinubu emphasized that this holistic system will protect children from exploitation and empower them to become self-reliant citizens, while calling for international partnerships to achieve the ambitious goal.

In response, Sheika Moza Bint Nasser Al-Missned praised Senator Tinubu’s vision and pledged the Qatar Foundation’s readiness to collaborate with Nigeria’s Ministry of Education and the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education. The Foundation will support teacher training, curriculum design, and institutional capacity building. Senator Tinubu, joined by senior government officials, toured the Foundation’s facilities and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to inclusive and quality education for every Nigerian child.
