
In a dynamic address at the Town Hall meeting held at the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) in Abuja, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, mni, called on staff to embrace innovation and creativity to accelerate the implementation of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP 25).
The meeting, convened to reflect on shared commitments and progress within the OHCSF, saw Mrs. Walson-Jack outline her vision for the next two years. Her agenda focuses on three key areas: Efficiency, Accountability, and the Well-being and Development of civil servants.
“You are our greatest asset,” Mrs. Walson-Jack declared. “Your health, both physical and mental, your development, and your job satisfaction matter to me.” She expressed her ambition for the OHCSF to set the standard for other Federal Civil Service Ministries, extra-ministerial departments, and agencies not only in Nigeria but across Africa and globally.
Highlighting her commitment to creating a conducive working environment, Mrs. Walson-Jack emphasized the importance of mutual respect, transparency, and accountability. She pledged to address issues impacting staff morale and productivity, ensuring that welfare and professional growth remain top priorities.
The HCSF urged staff to embrace technology, streamline processes, and eliminate bottlenecks to support the reform processes. She also stressed the need to promote a culture of recognition and reward to motivate staff.
“My leadership approach will be one of openness and inclusion,” Mrs. Walson-Jack said. “I want to set an example of collaboration, where everyone feels empowered to contribute to our collective success.”
In his welcome remarks, Mr. Raymond Omachi, Permanent Secretary of the Common Service Office (CSO), praised Mrs. Walson-Jack’s leadership, noting the meaningful changes she has introduced to enhance civil servant welfare and efficiency. He highlighted the meeting as an opportunity to strengthen relationships and discuss challenges and opportunities.
Comrade Sylvester Abah, Joint Union Chairman of the OHCSF Chapter, commended Mrs. Walson-Jack for her outstanding leadership in handling union matters and appealed for the promotion of staff welfare, timely pension payments, and the swift implementation of salary adjustments.
In his vote of thanks, Mr. Raymond Uwaneyi, Director of Human Resources Management (HRM), expressed gratitude to the HCSF for her engagement with staff, describing it as a significant morale booster. He also thanked union leaders for their cooperation and encouraged staff to remain steadfast in their duties.
The meeting was attended by key figures including Permanent Secretaries, Directors, and senior staff from the OHCSF, all of whom were encouraged to support the new initiatives and contribute to the ongoing transformation of the Federal Civil Service.
