President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Dr. Philip Mshelbila, Managing Director of Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), on his election as Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) during the 27th Ministerial Meeting held in Doha, Qatar.

The President also congratulated the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, on his emergence as President of the 2026 GECF Ministerial Meeting, describing it as another milestone that reinforces Nigeria’s leadership in the global gas industry.

President Tinubu said both appointments reflect the international community’s confidence in Nigeria’s expertise and growing influence in global gas diplomacy.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting energy security and industrial growth through natural gas, which he described as the cornerstone of Nigeria’s economic transformation under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The President expressed confidence that Dr. Mshelbila and Minister Ekpo will represent Nigeria with excellence while advancing cooperation, stability, and inclusivity in the global gas market.
