President of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), Elisa de Anda Madrazo, has congratulated Nigeria on its removal from the FATF grey list, commending the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for demonstrating strong political will and effective interagency collaboration in combating financial crimes.

Speaking at the FATF plenary in Paris, France, Madrazo noted that Nigeria’s sustained reforms over the past two years had significantly strengthened its capacity to investigate and prosecute money laundering, terrorist financing, and other related crimes. She said the country’s political commitment had translated into concrete policy actions, stronger supervision across key sectors, and improved transparency in beneficial ownership structures.

Madrazo further announced that Mozambique, Burkina Faso, and South Africa were also removed from the grey list, while urging Nigeria to sustain its progress for the benefit of its people. Representing Nigeria at the plenary, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, reaffirmed the country’s commitment to global financial transparency, expressing gratitude to international partners including France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Commission for their support throughout the process.
