A group of lawyers has called on the Federal Government to ensure a thorough investigation and prosecution of former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, over allegations of certificate forgery.
The lawyers urged the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to allow due process to take its course, stressing that resignation from public office should not prevent accountability for alleged offences.
They commended the relevant authorities for commencing investigations into the matter but called for a transparent and timely process to establish the facts.
The lawyers alleged that the case involves questions surrounding academic and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificates presented during Nnaji’s ministerial screening.
They further demanded that if the allegations are proven, appropriate legal actions should be taken, including possible recovery of public funds received during his tenure.
The former minister has denied the allegations, while investigations into the matter continue.
