Barring any last-minute change, the Senate will on Wednesday conduct the screening and confirmation of the new Service Chiefs nominated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The exercise marks a key step in strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture and advancing ongoing reforms within the Armed Forces under the Renewed Hope administration.

The nominees, whose names were earlier transmitted to the Senate by President Tinubu, are expected to appear before the lawmakers to present their vision and strategies for improving national security, combating terrorism, and enhancing inter-agency coordination. The screening will be carried out by the Senate Committee on Defence and other relevant committees before final confirmation by the plenary.

President Tinubu’s nomination of the new Service Chiefs reflects his administration’s commitment to repositioning the military for greater efficiency, professionalism, and responsiveness to emerging security challenges. Once confirmed, the new Chiefs are expected to consolidate ongoing efforts to restore peace, protect national assets, and strengthen the morale of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
