The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced a major shake-up in its leadership structure following the approval of new appointments, redeployments, and reassignments of senior officers by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar. The reorganization, which affects key command, operational, and administrative positions, is aimed at strengthening efficiency, professionalism, and combat readiness within the force.

Under the new structure, several senior officers have been appointed as Air Officers Commanding (AOCs), Branch Chiefs, and Unit Commanders across various commands and directorates. The move reflects the Air Force’s strategic intent to realign leadership for improved coordination, operational synergy, and effective response to national security challenges across all theatres of operation.

The Air Force leadership stated that the reshuffle was necessary to reposition the service for greater performance and to sustain ongoing air operations in support of joint military campaigns across the country. It also affirmed its commitment to maintaining high standards of discipline, accountability, and training to enhance mission effectiveness and personnel morale.

Security analysts view the development as part of a broader military restructuring effort to inject fresh energy into Nigeria’s defence architecture. The changes are expected to reinforce operational focus, improve intelligence coordination, and strengthen the Air Force’s role in combating insurgency, banditry, and emerging security threats nationwide.
