Atiku to Tinubu: Stop Blaming Nigerians, Media for Insecurity

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has criticized the administration of President Bola Tinubu over what he described as attempts to shift responsibility for Nigeria’s worsening insecurity and economic challenges to the media and ordinary citizens.

Atiku’s reaction followed comments by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who accused sections of the media of creating a false impression that the country is overwhelmed by insecurity.

In a statement, Atiku argued that addressing insecurity and improving economic conditions are core responsibilities of government, urging the Tinubu administration to focus on delivering solutions rather than blaming the media or Nigerians for the nation’s challenges.

He maintained that citizens and the press have a duty to highlight the realities facing the country and called on the government to take decisive action to tackle insecurity and economic hardship.
