Delta Air Lines has announced a major expansion of its African network with the launch of its first-ever nonstop flight between Atlanta (ATL) and Marrakech, Morocco (RAK). The new route, scheduled to begin on October 25, 2025, marks Delta’s debut service to Morocco and strengthens its growing presence across the African continent.
The service will operate three times weekly using a Boeing 767-400ER, featuring Delta’s full range of cabin experiences Delta One, Premium Select, Comfort+, and Main Cabin. The new route is expected to enhance cultural, tourism, and commercial connections between the United States and North Africa.
“This flight connects two world-class destinations—Atlanta, our global hub, and the iconic city of Marrakech,” said a Delta spokesperson. “It reflects our commitment to broadening access to Africa and meeting the growing demand for transatlantic travel.”
Delta’s expansion comes as part of a strategic partnership with the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) to attract more U.S. visitors to the North African nation. The collaboration aims to position Morocco as a leading destination for American travelers seeking authentic cultural experiences and year-round sunshine.
The new route is also expected to boost tourism and trade links between the U.S. and Morocco, making Atlanta a key gateway for travel to Africa. It complements Delta’s existing services to Accra (Ghana), Lagos (Nigeria), and Johannesburg (South Africa) further solidifying the airline’s role as a major U.S. carrier to the African continent.
Industry analysts note that Delta’s move aligns with a broader trend among international airlines expanding into Africa to serve the region’s rising middle class, increased tourism appeal, and growing business ties with the U.S.
With the Atlanta–Marrakech route, Delta not only strengthens its global network but also opens the door for seamless connectivity between North America and one of Africa’s most captivating destinations. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
