Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), the Joint Task Force North East, have rescued 86 kidnapped victims and apprehended 29 suspected terrorist logistics suppliers during a series of coordinated operations across Borno State. The Media Information Officer of the task force, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, disclosed this in a statement shared on X on Monday, noting that the operations were conducted with precision and zero casualties among troops.
Jocomms Correspondent reports that troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion under Sector 2 OPHK encountered Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists on November 9 at Dutse Kura along the Buratai–Kamuya Road. The insurgents were reportedly abducting civilians and vehicles when the soldiers engaged them in a fierce gun battle, forcing the terrorists to flee towards Mangari. During the follow-up operation, 11 makeshift camps were destroyed, and 86 kidnapped men, women, and children were rescued. Recovered items included an AK-47 rifle, magazines, ammunition belts, vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, and tricycles used for logistics.
In a related development, troops deployed at Mangada intercepted 29 logistics suppliers transporting fuel, foodstuffs, tyres, and medical supplies to terrorist camps. The suspects were arrested with pickup vans and a tricycle loaded with about 1,000 litres of petrol and other materials. The military high command has commended the troops for their bravery and professionalism, urging them to sustain the offensive and deny terrorists freedom of action across the North-East.
