Google Launches AI Skilling Blueprint for African Governments

Share

Google has unveiled an AI Skilling Blueprint aimed at helping African governments develop coordinated strategies to train citizens and professionals in artificial intelligence.

The initiative targets three groups: AI Learners (the general public), AI Implementers (professionals integrating AI into their work), and AI Innovators (researchers and developers building AI solutions for local contexts).

Google is committing US$7.5 million to support local AI education programs and US$2.25 million to modernize public data infrastructure, partnering with organizations such as UNECA, UN DESA, and PARIS21. Local partners include FATE Foundation, AIMS, JA Africa, and CyberSafe Foundation.

With strong demand for AI talent across Africa, Google aims to close skills gaps, foster homegrown innovation, and enable governments to make evidence-based decisions using improved public data. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
