In a bold move to boost agricultural productivity and promote women’s economic empowerment, Psaltry International Company Ltd. has teamed up with the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF), First City Monument Bank (FCMB), and other partners to support 15,000 young women in cassava cultivation across Oyo State.

The program, which targets women aged 18 to 35, aims to cultivate 2,000 hectares of cassava. Beneficiaries will receive crucial support including ploughing, fertilizer, and agrochemicals, ensuring they have the resources needed for successful harvests.

Speaking at Psaltry’s 20-year anniversary celebration, CEO Oluyemisi Iranloye highlighted the company’s commitment to community development. “Our mission goes beyond producing cassava products; we are dedicated to empowering the communities that sustain us,” she said. Psaltry’s contributions to local infrastructure include boreholes for potable water, electrification projects, medical outreach, and road construction.

Psaltry produces a range of cassava-based products, including food-grade starch, high-purity hydrogen, sorbitol, and animal feed. Sustainability remains a core focus, with the company generating 1.1 MW of solar power for operations and converting production waste into nutrient-rich animal feed.

The initiative builds on Psaltry’s past efforts, including collaborations with AGRA and the Rockefeller Foundation’s YieldWise program, which provided training, mechanization, and market access for smallholder farmers. These programs have already helped women increase yields and secure stable incomes.

Through this new partnership, Psaltry, NADF, and other collaborators aim to create a model of agricultural empowerment that combines economic opportunity, sustainability, and community development giving thousands of women the chance to transform their lives while strengthening Nigeria’s cassava industry.
