The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, held separate engagements with the former Archbishop of Canterbury, Rt Revd Justin Welby, and the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, at her office in Abuja.
During her meeting with Rt Revd Welby, discussions focused on interfaith dialogue, peacebuilding, and the need for the international community to properly understand Nigeria’s challenges in order to support effective solutions. She stressed that Nigeria’s security issues should not be misrepresented and appreciated efforts aimed at promoting unity among different religious groups.
Rt Revd Welby said his involvement was driven by the need to support peace and strengthen interfaith relations, noting an upcoming dialogue under the Global Forum for Peace in London. In a separate engagement, the First Lady also received the Communications Minister, who briefed her on the Girls in Tech Programme and announced plans for a showcase dinner in Abuja as well as her role as the face of a campaign to expand digital connectivity across rural and riverine areas.
