President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the formation of Nigeria’s delegation to the US–Nigeria Joint Working Group on Security, a bilateral platform created to strengthen cooperation in addressing Nigeria’s pressing security challenges. The Group emerged as a key outcome of the recent high-level visit to Washington, D.C., led by the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

Ribadu will chair the Nigerian side of the Working Group, supported by a multi-agency team that includes senior government officials from key ministries and national security institutions. Members include the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Defence, Interior, and Humanitarian Affairs, as well as the Chief of Defence Staff, the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, and the Inspector-General of Police.

Ms. Idayat Hassan from the Office of the National Security Adviser and Mr. Paul Alabi from the Nigerian Embassy in the United States will serve as the Secretariat. President Tinubu has directed the delegation to work closely with their American counterparts to ensure effective, coordinated, and timely implementation of all agreed security initiatives.
