NYSC Warns Corps Members Against Negative Online Content

The National Youth Service Corps has cautioned corps members across the country against posting negative or damaging content about the Scheme or Nigeria on social media. The warning comes amid increasing concerns over the misuse of online platforms by some participants, which officials say can misrepresent the NYSC’s values and undermine national unity.

According to the Scheme, corps members are expected to uphold discipline, responsibility and patriotism both offline and online. The NYSC urged young graduates to use their digital platforms to promote constructive narratives, showcase community development projects and contribute positively to Nigeria’s image. Officials stressed that social media should be used as a tool for national building rather than for spreading misinformation or fueling division.

The NYSC further encouraged corps members to be mindful of the far-reaching consequences of their online activities and to embrace digital responsibility. It reaffirmed its commitment to guiding young Nigerians on responsible citizenship and strengthening the Scheme’s role in national development.
