The Federal Government has approved Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, for full international operations.
Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo said the airport meets global standards, featuring a long runway and a modern MRO facility. A multi-agency team will conduct final inspections to complete the designation process.
Governor Umo Eno welcomed the development, noting that the state is constructing a cargo terminal and staff housing to support the upgrade. He added that international flights are expected to commence by the end of the first quarter of 2026.
The approval is projected to boost tourism, trade, and investment across Akwa Ibom and the South-South region. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
