Former President Goodluck Jonathan has disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and President Alassane Ouattara of Côte d’Ivoire made immediate arrangements to send aircraft to evacuate him and his delegation during the recent political tension in Guinea-Bissau.

Jonathan explained that Côte d’Ivoire’s aircraft was prioritized because of its proximity to Guinea-Bissau and the existing cooperation among francophone countries, which made securing a landing permit faster and easier.

He added that although a Nigerian aircraft had already been dispatched for the rescue operation, he and his team advised them to stand down since the Ivorian aircraft was able to reach them more quickly.

The former president expressed gratitude to both leaders for their swift intervention and solidarity during the incident.
