African air travel is experiencing a notable rebound. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) reported that passenger demand for African airlines grew 7.3% year-on-year in October 2025, outpacing the global growth average of 6.6%.

Seat capacity increased by 5.3%, while the load factor the percentage of seats filled rose to 74.1%, up 1.4 percentage points from October 2024. These numbers indicate that African carriers are not just flying more, but also attracting more passengers per flight.

Globally, air travel continues its upward trend. European airlines, for instance, saw demand rise roughly 7.4%, while cargo traffic expanded 4.1%, continuing a steady increase over recent months.

Industry experts highlight that the surge in African air travel could boost tourism, business, and regional connectivity, providing a significant lift to economic activity across the continent.

As airlines expand capacity and more passengers take to the skies, the question remains: What’s fueling this surge, and can it be sustained into 2026? Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
