Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has flagged off the distribution of free fertilisers, agrochemicals and other farm inputs to thousands of farmers across the state as part of efforts to boost agricultural production and strengthen food security.

The initiative includes the distribution of fertilisers, improved seeds, herbicides, insecticides and seed-dressing chemicals to support farmers during the farming season.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony in Gusau, Governor Lawal described agriculture as the backbone of Zamfara’s economy, stressing that his administration remains committed to empowering farmers and promoting sustainable rural development.

He said the intervention is aimed at increasing food production, creating jobs, reducing poverty and improving the livelihoods of farming communities across the state.

The governor also noted that the distribution process has been digitised to enhance transparency, eliminate diversion and ensure that the farm inputs reach the intended beneficiaries.
