A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the formation of a 13‑member National Caretaker Committee to oversee the party’s affairs following the expiration of the tenure of the National Working Committee (NWC) on 9 December 2025.

The committee, chaired by Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed with Senator Samuel Anyanwu as Secretary, will manage the party for 60 days. Its responsibilities include overseeing outstanding state congresses and organizing a national convention to elect substantive leadership.

The move comes amid internal divisions within the PDP, with the Wike/Anyanwu faction stating that the Caretaker Committee is necessary to restore discipline, uphold legality, and ensure credible internal processes following disputes over parallel leadership claims and contested conventions.
