The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has rejected claims by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) that the motor vehicle tinted glass permit policy is a revenue-generating scheme. The force dismissed the allegation amid growing public debate over the enforcement and purpose of the permit requirement across the country.
In a statement released on Friday, the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, clarified that the police are not a revenue-generating agency. He explained that while the NPF is legally permitted to receive funds, such payments are incidental to the discharge of its statutory duties and not designed as a means of raising revenue.
Hundeyin stressed that the tinted glass permit policy is rooted in security concerns, particularly crime prevention and public safety, rather than financial motives. The rebuttal comes as conversations continue between legal, civil society, and security stakeholders over transparency, enforcement practices, and public trust.
