A man has been formally charged after allegedly attempting to breach security at Kensington Palace, the London residence of Prince William and Princess Kate, in the days leading up to Christmas.

According to the Metropolitan Police, the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Derek Egan, faces charges for trespassing on a protected site following two separate incidents on December 21 and December 23.

Police authorities confirmed that the Prince and Princess of Wales, along with their three children, were not present at Kensington Palace at the time of either incident. The family uses the palace as their London residence when staying in the capital.

The Metropolitan Police said security protocols were swiftly activated during both incidents, preventing any access to restricted areas. Further legal proceedings are expected as investigations continue.
