The Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Dr. Zacch Adedeji, has stated that the recently implemented tax reforms are designed to support sustainable development and accelerate economic growth in Nigeria.
Adedeji explained that the new tax laws aim to stabilize the economy, strengthen institutions, and broaden the revenue base, creating a more predictable and fair tax system that encourages voluntary compliance and protects vulnerable groups.
Addressing public concerns, he rejected claims that the reforms are politically motivated, stressing that they are implemented in phases with transparency and due process, and are intended to reinforce confidence in public institutions.
The NRS chairman also cautioned against misinformation and potential protests, urging citizens to understand the reforms and collaborate with authorities to ensure successful implementation and maximize the benefits of the new tax framework.
