Abuja Nurse Killed by Suspected ‘One-Chance’ Robbers, Colleagues Demand Justice

Suspected members of a ‘one-chance’ robbery syndicate have reportedly killed a nurse, Chinemerem Pascalina Chuwumeziem, in Abuja, sparking outrage and grief within the healthcare community.

The incident occurred on January 3, 2026, shortly after the victim finished her afternoon duty and was on her way home. Her body was discovered the following morning, January 4, abandoned by the roadside, and was later taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jabi mortuary.

Until her death, Chinemerem was a staff member of the Federal Medical Centre, Abuja. Her killing has sent shockwaves across the nursing profession, with colleagues and associates expressing deep sorrow and anger over the tragic loss.

Nurses and other health workers have called for swift justice, urging security agencies to carry out a thorough investigation and bring those responsible to account.

The incident was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday, January 5, by the Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Federal Capital Territory Council, Comrade Jama D. Medan.
