The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that it will not allow opposition parties to rig future elections, insisting that the ruling party remains committed to safeguarding Nigeria’s democratic process.
The Lagos State chapter of the APC made this known in a statement on Tuesday, as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of future electoral contests. The party said it would deploy lawful and democratic means to ensure that elections reflect the true will of the people.
According to the APC, allegations often made by opposition parties about planned rigging are usually tactics to discredit the electoral process and prepare excuses ahead of possible defeat at the polls. The party maintained that it believes in winning elections through popular support rather than manipulation.
The APC also called on opposition parties to focus on issue-based politics and constructive engagement, rather than what it described as persistent misinformation and unfounded accusations.
Reaffirming its confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the party urged security agencies, civil society organisations and voters to remain vigilant and work collectively to protect the integrity of elections.
The statement comes amid growing political debates and exchanges between the ruling party and opposition figures, as alignments and strategies begin to take shape well ahead of the next general elections.
