President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has paid tribute to the heroes of the Nigerian Armed Forces on the occasion of Armed Forces Remembrance and Celebration Day.
In a statement, President Tinubu remembered the brave men and women who have sacrificed everything for the nation, acknowledging that their courage sustains Nigeria’s freedom and peace even if their names are not always publicly known.
“A nation that forgets its fallen heroes loses its direction; Nigeria, however, remembers,” he said.
The President also addressed the families of fallen soldiers, including widows, children, and loved ones, recognising the profound nature of their loss. “Your loved ones served Nigeria with honour, and our people will never forget their sacrifices,” he added.
President Tinubu further celebrated serving personnel across all branches of the Armed Forces. “From the frontlines to support positions, on land, sea, and air, you carry the heavy responsibility of protecting our people and sovereignty with discipline, courage and professionalism, often far from home,” he said.
As Commander-in-Chief, the President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare and dignity of Nigeria’s Armed Forces. “A secure Nigeria stands behind those who defend it. We will continue to support them in action,” he stated.
Concluding his message, President Tinubu prayed: “May our fallen heroes rest in peace. May God strengthen our Armed Forces. May God bless Nigeria.”
