President Tinubu Congratulates Nigerian Artistes as Nigeria Shines at 9th AFRIMA

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian artistes who won at the 9th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), describing their success as a reflection of the country’s growing influence in African and global music.

Rema won Artiste of the Year, Best Male Artiste in Western Africa, and Best African RnB & Soul; Burna Boy took Album of the Year; Shallipopi won Song of the Year and Best African Collaboration with Burna Boy. Other winners included Phyno, Qing Madi, Yemi Alade, Chella, Kenny Ogungbe, and Dayo Adeneye.

President Tinubu praised the artistes for making Nigeria proud and noted that their achievements reflect years of talent, dedication, and hard work. He also commended Lagos State for hosting a successful event and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the creative economy.

“I warmly congratulate our outstanding Nigerian artistes for their remarkable achievements. You have projected our culture, amplified the voice of our youths, and strengthened Nigeria’s creative identity across the continent and beyond,” the President said.

The 9th AFRIMA, held from January 7–11, 2026, in Lagos, saw participation from over 1,216 artistes, delegates, and industry stakeholders from at least 48 African countries.
