President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Nigerian national football team, the Super Eagles, on their bronze medal finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The President praised the team for overcoming the disappointment of their semi-final defeat to host nation Morocco last Wednesday.

Nigeria secured third place after defeating Egypt, the seven-time Africa Cup of Nations champions, in a penalty shootout following regulation time, during which the Super Eagles dominated play.

President Tinubu said the team’s performance reflected the determination, persistence, and can-do spirit for which Nigeria is known. He noted that despite the setback in the semi-final, the players remained undaunted and demonstrated resilience to clinch the bronze medal.

The President added that Nigerians would be proud as the Super Eagles receive their hard-earned bronze medals on Sunday in Rabat, Morocco, describing the achievement as one that “feels as good as gold.”
