Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully repelled a bandit attack in Kaduna State, killing a suspected terrorist and recovering stolen property in a swift military operation.
The operation, carried out by soldiers from the 1 Division under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, took place in the Maraban Rido area following a distress call about armed bandits who had recently stolen livestock. Troops laid an ambush, engaged the assailants, and forced them to flee in disorder.
In the follow-up operation conducted in the early hours of January 23, soldiers neutralized one suspected violent extremist and recovered rustled livestock, two AK‑47 rifles, four magazines, and 15 rounds of ammunition.
Major General Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed Wase, General Officer Commanding 1 Division and Commander of Sector 1 OPFY, commended the troops’ professionalism and urged citizens to continue providing credible information to security agencies.
This development comes amid a series of ongoing military operations in northwest Nigeria, where troops have recently rescued hostages and neutralized militants across states such as Zamfara and Kebbi.
The Nigerian Army continues to emphasize proactive measures to protect communities and curb banditry and terrorism in the region. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
