Iranian authorities announced on Monday that air traffic has resumed following flight cancellations at several airports due to “operational restrictions,” according to state media. This development comes amid Israel’s vows to retaliate against an Iranian missile strike.
Flights were back in operation as of 11:00 PM local time on Sunday (19:30 GMT), with Jafar Yazarloo, spokesman for Iran’s Civil Aviation Organisation, stating that they are now being conducted according to schedule, as reported by the IRNA news agency.
On Tuesday, Iran launched approximately 200 missiles in its second direct attack on Israel, claiming it was retaliation for the deaths of Tehran-aligned militant leaders and a general from Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.
In response, Israel has stated that it will take action against Iran’s attack.
Iran had initially closed its airspace for under two days, from Tuesday night until Thursday morning, grounding both domestic and international flights for security reasons before reopening.
Meanwhile, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency has advised European airlines to avoid Iranian airspace until October 31, as the situation remains under review
