Nafiu Bala, a Gombe-born politician, is emerging as a notable figure in Nigeria’s political landscape, posing a potential challenge to the presidential ambitions of Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi. According to his personal particulars submitted to INEC in 2022, Bala was born on June 6, 1986, in Nasarawa ward of Gombe LGA, Gombe State.

Bala began his political career with the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP), serving as the party’s national secretary. In August 2018, he denied reports that the DPP had merged with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2019 general elections.

He later joined the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), intending to contest the 2023 Gombe North senatorial seat. In March 2022, Bala resigned from the PRP to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC). By August 2022, he was officially presented with his certificate of return as ADC’s governorship candidate in Gombe by the party’s founder, Ralph Nwosu.

Bala’s political trajectory highlights his growing influence and ambition, as he positions himself for higher office in Nigeria’s evolving political arena.
