The Federal Government has inaugurated an inter-ministerial committee to examine the proliferation of security and paramilitary agencies across the country, in a bid to streamline Nigeria’s security architecture.
The committee includes representatives from the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), as well as the Ministries of Defence, Interior, and Police Affairs.
It is expected to audit existing agencies, identify overlaps and duplication of roles, and make recommendations that may include reforms, mergers, or dissolution of some outfits to improve efficiency and coordination within the security sector.
