A Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna has granted former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, bail in the sum of ₦100 million in an ongoing corruption and abuse of office trial.
The court, presided over by Justice Rilwan Aikawa, ruled that the offences are bailable and allowed the defendant to remain on bail pending the continuation of his trial. He was also required to meet specific bail conditions, including providing sureties and fulfilling other legal requirements as set by the court.
El-Rufai is facing multiple charges filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), bordering on alleged financial misconduct, abuse of office, and handling of state funds during his tenure as governor of Kaduna State.
Meanwhile, a separate proceeding in another court is still ongoing, where a ruling on a related bail application has been adjourned for further hearing.
The former governor has denied all allegations against him, and the case continues in court.
