The Federal Government has commenced the disbursement of outstanding 2025 allowances owed to beneficiaries of the Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) Scholarship Programme studying in partner countries abroad.

The Federal Ministry of Education confirmed that the Central Bank of Nigeria has released approved funds to Nigerian embassies and missions for immediate payment to eligible scholars. According to the Ministry, the current disbursement covers 50% of the outstanding 2025 obligations, while arrangements are ongoing to settle the remaining balance.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, stated that the funds have already been credited to embassy accounts, and missions are expected to begin prompt payments to students. He urged beneficiaries to monitor their accounts as disbursements commence.

He further noted that the development reflects the administration’s commitment under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in ensuring the welfare of Nigerian students abroad and sustaining education-related obligations.

The Federal Government reiterated its commitment to honoring legitimate scholarship obligations and strengthening policies aimed at improving education, student welfare, and human capital development.
