Shettima Rallies APC Unity as Gubio Emerges Borno Governorship Flagbearer

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Borno State has concluded its governorship primary with Engr. Mustapha Gubio emerging as the party’s candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The exercise, held in Maiduguri, was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCON, who led key stakeholders including Governor Babagana Umara Zulum and other senior party figures.

Following the conclusion of the primary, Vice President Shettima departed the state for Abuja.

Addressing party members at the event, Shettima called for unity and reconciliation within the APC, urging stakeholders to close ranks and work collectively towards the party’s success at the polls.

He stressed that the outcome of the primary should be seen as part of a broader effort to strengthen governance and deliver development under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

He also urged members to remain committed to the party’s ideals, noting that leadership selection must always reflect the aspiration for credible and capable leadership capable of driving growth, security, and development in Borno State.

Governor Zulum commended party stakeholders for their cooperation and support throughout the process.

The governorship candidate, Engr. Mustapha Gubio, who emerged unopposed, pledged to focus on development priorities and pledged to serve with integrity if elected in 2027.

Prominent APC figures present at the primary included the Deputy National Chairman (North), Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori; Senators M.T. Monguno and Kaka Shehu Lawan; Amb. Baba Ahmed Jidda; members of the National Assembly; state lawmakers; commissioners; and other party leaders.
