Political parties across Nigeria have commenced reconciliation efforts following the conclusion of their primary elections as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.

The move is aimed at resolving internal disputes, uniting aggrieved aspirants, and strengthening party structures ahead of the next phase of the electoral process.

In the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), party leaders have begun engaging dissatisfied aspirants and stakeholders in a bid to prevent defections and preserve unity after fiercely contested primaries in several states.

Similarly, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has initiated reconciliation efforts following its presidential primary, which produced former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the party’s candidate. The party is seeking to address concerns raised by some aspirants and foster cohesion ahead of the election.

Other political parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), are also working to heal divisions that emerged during their respective primaries, with leaders emphasizing the need for unity and collective action.

Political analysts say post-primary reconciliation has become a critical phase of the electoral process, as unresolved grievances often lead to internal crises, defections, and weakened electoral performance.

With the 2027 general elections drawing closer, party leaders are expected to intensify efforts to consolidate support and present a united front to voters across the country.
