The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has clarified that the ongoing construction of judges’ quarters in Abuja is not intended as an inducement for judicial officers but is aimed at enhancing their welfare and working conditions.
Speaking during his monthly live media chat, the minister said the project reflects the administration’s commitment to providing adequate accommodation and a conducive environment for members of the judiciary to effectively discharge their duties.
Wike emphasized that improving the welfare of judicial officers is essential to strengthening the justice system and ensuring efficient service delivery. He maintained that the initiative should be viewed as a legitimate effort to support the judiciary rather than an attempt to influence its independence.
The FCT Administration is currently undertaking several infrastructure projects across Abuja, including the development of residential facilities for judges.
