The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has disclosed that efforts are underway to secure return tickets for some serving senators who lost out during their party primaries ahead of the next general elections.
Akpabio made the remarks while addressing lawmakers, noting that discussions were ongoing within party structures to review certain primary election outcomes in favour of experienced legislators who were not re-nominated.
He explained that the move is aimed at retaining legislative experience and ensuring continuity in governance, adding that some of the affected senators had contributed significantly to national development and parliamentary work.
The Senate President emphasized that while party democracy remains important, efforts are being made to balance internal party decisions with the need to maintain stability and effectiveness within the National Assembly.
