
The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Israel across key sectors, including agriculture, security, education, healthcare and technology, as part of efforts to accelerate Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
Speaking while receiving the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman, in Abuja, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, said Nigeria remains open to strategic partnerships that can unlock its vast agricultural resources, growing population and economic potential. He noted that collaboration with Israel would support the country’s development agenda and enhance innovation-driven growth.
Akume praised Israel’s achievements in agriculture, healthcare, education and technology, describing the country as a global example of resilience and innovation. He expressed confidence that stronger cooperation between both nations would yield significant benefits for their citizens and deepen existing diplomatic ties.
In his remarks, Ambassador Freeman reaffirmed Israel’s readiness to work closely with Nigeria in improving food production through advanced agricultural technologies and capacity-building initiatives. He also identified security, counterterrorism, cybersecurity, border management and personnel training as areas for greater collaboration, stressing that both countries face similar security challenges that require coordinated solutions.
