The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued five kidnapped victims following a coordinated security operation in the Byazhin area of Abuja.

According to police authorities, the operation was launched after recent kidnapping incidents in the Paze community, Bwari Area Council, which prompted an intensified search-and-rescue mission by security operatives.

The operation was personally led by the FCT Commissioner of Police and involved personnel from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Kubwa Area Command, as well as local hunters and vigilante groups.

During the operation, security forces engaged suspected kidnappers in a gun battle, resulting in the neutralisation of two suspects and the arrest of two others.

Several other members of the gang reportedly fled with gunshot injuries.

Two AK-47 rifles were recovered from the suspects, while the rescued victims were taken for medical examination and are reported to be in stable condition.

Police have confirmed that efforts are ongoing to track down fleeing members of the criminal gang and dismantle their network. Authorities also urged hospitals and members of the public to report any individuals seeking treatment for gunshot wounds, as they may be linked to the suspects.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustained operations aimed at tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the Federal Capital Territory. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
