The Federal High Court in Abuja has summoned the lawyer representing former Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, over allegations that a claim made before the court in an ongoing corruption trial was false.
The development came during proceedings in the case involving alleged diversion of public funds amounting to about N33.8 billion, brought against the former minister by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
According to court proceedings, the judge ordered the appearance of the defence counsel after issues arose concerning the accuracy of representations made in relation to financial transactions and statements presented in court.
The case is part of ongoing investigations into alleged mismanagement of funds in the power sector during Mamman’s tenure, with the EFCC maintaining that it will continue to present evidence linking the former minister and others to the alleged fraud.
