Reports indicate that pressure is mounting on former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, to accept a possible offer to become the vice-presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Political sources say discussions within opposition circles have intensified in recent weeks as the party continues consultations on its presidential ticket. Amaechi, a former Rivers State governor and influential political figure, is said to be one of the key names being considered for the position.
According to party insiders, some stakeholders within the ADC believe Amaechi’s experience in government and national politics could strengthen the party’s chances if he joins the ticket. However, it remains unclear whether he has formally agreed to the proposal.
As of now, neither Amaechi nor the ADC leadership has publicly confirmed any final decision regarding the running mate selection process, as consultations are still ongoing within the party structure.
