



President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the immediate and permanent reinforcement of security at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Plateau State, following a recent attack on the institute’s perimeter by bandits.
The President said the incident has further strengthened the Federal Government’s resolve to protect strategic national institutions, support security personnel, and ensure that future threats are effectively prevented.
Speaking on Friday through Vice President Kashim Shettima while addressing participants of Senior Executive Course 48, 2026, at NIPSS, President Tinubu conveyed the condolences of the Federal Government to the families of two soldiers and one police officer who lost their lives during the attack.
According to the Vice President, the President has directed the activation of emergency security measures without delay. He said the Director-General of NIPSS has been mandated to work closely with the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Department of State Services to strengthen security around the institute.
Shettima disclosed that a comprehensive action plan for permanent security reinforcement must be submitted to the Office of the Vice President within 72 hours.
The plan is expected to cover surveillance systems, deployment of personnel, access control measures, and emergency response mechanisms aimed at preventing future attacks and enhancing the security of the institution.
The Vice President reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to safeguarding national institutions and ensuring that security agencies are adequately supported in the discharge of their responsibilities.
