The Federal Government has assured that all Nigerians affected by recent developments in South Africa will receive adequate protection and support, insisting that no citizen will be abandoned.

The Minister gave the assurance while addressing concerns over the safety and welfare of Nigerians residing in South Africa, following reports of rising tension and targeted attacks on foreign nationals.

According to the Minister, the Nigerian government is actively engaging South African authorities to ensure the protection of its citizens and to prevent further escalation of tensions.

He stressed that diplomatic channels remain fully activated, with both countries working to maintain peace and safeguard lives and property.

The Minister further reiterated that Nigeria remains committed to protecting its nationals anywhere in the world, warning that any form of violence against Nigerians abroad will not be tolerated.

The development comes amid renewed calls for stronger diaspora protection mechanisms and improved bilateral security cooperation between Nigeria and South Africa.
