Independent National Electoral Commission Declares APC’s Rabiu Garba Aiki Winner of Kebbi By-Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rabiu Garba Aiki, the winner of the Zuru State Constituency by-election for the Kebbi State House of Assembly.

The result was announced on Saturday by the Returning Officer and Collation Officer, Professor Muhammad Bashar Danladi of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi.

According to the official results, Aiki secured 4,871 votes to defeat the Labour Party candidate, Aliyu Galadima Muhammad, who polled 168 votes.

INEC disclosed that the constituency has 109,385 registered voters, with 5,156 voters accredited for the exercise. A total of 5,055 valid votes were cast, while 95 ballots were rejected.

The by-election was conducted to fill the vacancy created by the death of the former Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru.

Only the APC and the Labour Party participated in the poll after meeting INEC’s nomination requirements. The outcome means the APC has retained the Zuru State Constituency seat in the Kebbi State House of Assembly. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
