Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has recorded another successful harvest from the vegetable garden established at the State House as part of efforts to promote food security across the country.
The garden, created about two years ago under the Every Home a Garden initiative, continues to produce a variety of vegetables and serves as a model for encouraging Nigerians to embrace home gardening.
During a routine visit to the garden, the First Lady harvested fresh vegetables including spinach, water leaf, and fluted pumpkin, describing home gardening as an affordable and practical way to maintain healthy living.
She reiterated her call on Nigerians to support ongoing efforts aimed at strengthening food security by cultivating gardens in their homes and communities.
According to her, home gardening not only contributes to food production and household nutrition but also supports environmental sustainability and climate change mitigation efforts.
The First Lady also used the occasion to encourage compassion and generosity, sharing part of the harvest with members of her staff and urging Nigerians to always extend kindness and support to others.
She maintained that small-scale gardening can play a significant role in improving food availability, promoting healthy lifestyles, and building more resilient communities across the country.
