Taraba Attacks Turn Deadly as Policeman Is Killed, 13 Injured

A police officer was killed and 13 other people injured in separate attacks by armed assailants in Taraba State, raising fresh concerns over security in the state.

The first incident occurred in Gembu, the headquarters of Sardauna Local Government Area, where unidentified gunmen launched a night attack, killing the police officer and injuring three civilians. In response, the Sardauna Local Government Council imposed a night curfew and intensified joint security patrols to restore peace and prevent further violence.

In a separate attack in Bali Local Government Area, one herder was reportedly killed while 10 others sustained varying degrees of injuries. Security agencies have since been deployed to the affected communities to maintain law and order and apprehend those responsible for the attacks.
