Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called for greater attention to the country’s tourism sector, describing it as a key driver of economic growth, job creation and national development.

Speaking while receiving the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Nigeria, Yousef Bin Hassan Al-Hail, at the State House in Abuja, the First Lady urged Nigerians, particularly young people, to explore and promote the nation’s rich cultural heritage, diverse attractions and tourism opportunities.

She said Nigeria has enormous untapped potential in tourism, noting that the sector can serve as a significant source of revenue while creating employment opportunities for millions of citizens.

Senator Tinubu highlighted the country’s rich culture, cuisine and hospitality, describing Nigerians as friendly and welcoming people.

The First Lady also expressed confidence in Nigeria’s future, stating that despite existing challenges, the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to delivering progress and national development.

Senator Tinubu further expressed appreciation for the partnership between Nigeria and Qatar, particularly ongoing collaboration aimed at addressing the challenge of out-of-school children in the country.

In his remarks, the Qatari Ambassador said his experience in Nigeria had contradicted negative perceptions often portrayed on social media, describing the country as beautiful and its people as warm and hospitable.

He pledged to continue strengthening relations between Nigeria and Qatar for the mutual benefit of both countries.
