The Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), has recorded another series of significant operational successes across the North East, rescuing abductees, repelling a coordinated attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists, arresting suspected terrorist collaborators, and disrupting insurgent logistics networks in sustained efforts to restore peace and security in the region.
The military disclosed that the achievements were recorded through coordinated search and rescue operations, intelligence-driven missions, and offensive clearance operations carried out by troops deployed across different sectors of the North East Theatre of Operation.
According to the military, the operations underscore the commitment of Operation HADIN KAI to denying terrorist groups freedom of movement, dismantling their support networks, and protecting civilians living in conflict-affected communities.
One of the major breakthroughs occurred on July 7, 2026, when troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion, while conducting ongoing Search and Rescue (SAR) operations in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, successfully rescued two additional abductees from a terrorist hideout.
The operation also resulted in the recovery of ₦1.2 million in cash, which security authorities suspect to be proceeds of criminal activities linked to terrorist operations. Soldiers further recovered food items and other logistics believed to have been used to sustain insurgent activities in the area.
Military authorities confirmed that the rescued victims were immediately evacuated to a secure location where they are currently receiving medical attention, psychological support, and other humanitarian assistance as part of efforts to aid their recovery and reintegration.
In another major operation, troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Logomani in Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State successfully repelled a coordinated assault launched by ISWAP terrorists.
The military explained that the insurgents mounted a fierce attack on the base and briefly exploited a section of the defensive perimeter during the intense exchange of gunfire. However, the troops quickly reorganised, launched a determined counter-offensive, and forced the terrorists to retreat after inflicting significant casualties on them.
According to the military, several of the fleeing terrorists escaped with varying degrees of gunshot wounds as troops maintained pressure on the attackers throughout the engagement.
Despite the successful defence of the base, the military disclosed that one gallant soldier paid the supreme price in the line of duty. Two gun trucks and some combat equipment also sustained damage during the encounter.
Operation HADIN KAI, however, assured that the security situation at FOB Logomani remains firmly under the control of troops, adding that reinforcements have since been deployed to the location.
Exploitation operations are also ongoing to track fleeing terrorists, while additional defensive measures are being implemented to further strengthen the security of the base against future attacks.
Elsewhere in Adamawa State, troops of the 232 Battalion acting on credible intelligence arrested a suspected notorious criminal in Gombi Local Government Area.
The military stated that follow-up exploitation of the arrest led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and twenty-eight rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
The suspect and all recovered weapons are currently in military custody as investigations continue. Security agencies are also working to identify and apprehend other members of the criminal network believed to be operating within the area.
In a separate intelligence-led operation, troops of the 149 Battalion arrested two suspected terrorist logistics suppliers in Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno State.
Items recovered during the operation included cash, a Volkswagen Golf vehicle, construction materials, household items, and other supplies suspected to have been intended for delivery to terrorist elements operating within the region.
Military authorities said the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation to obtain further intelligence that could lead to the arrest of additional collaborators and the dismantling of terrorist support networks. The recovered items remain in military custody as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, troops of the 24 Task Force Brigade, working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), conducted a clearance operation on known terrorist enclaves around Wulgo.
During the operation, troops exploited the terrorists’ hasty withdrawal from the area and recovered a sack containing assorted illicit drugs abandoned by the fleeing insurgents.
The military noted that the recovery highlights the increasing pressure being mounted on terrorist groups across the theatre of operations, limiting their ability to regroup, move freely, or sustain their activities.
Operation HADIN KAI reiterated that ongoing offensive operations, intelligence gathering, and collaboration with other security agencies and local vigilante groups remain central to the military’s strategy of degrading terrorist capabilities and restoring lasting peace to the North East.
The military also reassured residents of the region of its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, encouraging members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could assist ongoing operations.
The latest operational gains, according to the military, further demonstrate the resilience, professionalism, and determination of troops of Operation HADIN KAI in confronting terrorism, rescuing innocent civilians, disrupting insurgent logistics, and consolidating security gains across the North East.
