Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has defended the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, amid allegations linking him to the controversy surrounding the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Speaking on the matter, Wike dismissed calls for Gbajabiamila’s removal, insisting that the Chief of Staff had no involvement in the activities of the alleged council.

“I know the Chief of Staff very, very well. He did not. People are saying the Chief of Staff must be sacked. By whom? The opposition? Why not form a government, and then you can sack whoever you want to sack,” Wike said.

The FCT Minister maintained that accusations against Gbajabiamila were politically motivated and should not be used to undermine the Presidency.

The controversy arose following investigations into the alleged PFIPC, which the Federal Government has described as a non-existent entity. The Presidency has consistently denied appointing its purported Director-General and has defended the Chief of Staff against claims linking him to the organisation.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the activities of the alleged council and identify all those involved.
